HERRINFESTA ITALIANA STATEMENT REGARDING COVID-19 AND THE 2020 FESTIVAL

HerrinFesta Italiana is a not-for-profit fundraising committee under the umbrella of the Herrin Chamber of Commerce, in partnership with the City of Herrin and the Herrin Civic Center Authority.

HerrinFesta has been hopeful that there could be a path forward for our 2020 annual festival this May. However, the current worldwide pandemic of COVID-19, along with the obvious public health and safety risks requires urgent steps to contain its spread. We simply cannot move forward with the festival this year.

Throughout the development of the COVID-19 pandemic, HerrinFesta Italiana’s first priority, as always, has been how to best protect the safety and health of our patrons, performers, volunteers, vendors, staff, and community-at-large. With the new Executive Orders in place by the State of Illinois, the Center for Disease Control and Prevention, the Federal Government, and the advice of our local partners, we reached the difficult conclusion we cannot have the festival this year.

Those who have purchased tickets, Every Day Passes, and Early Entry Passes will be fully refunded. No action is necessary on the buyer’s part. The refund will be issued automatically.

We would like to thank the City of Herrin, the Herrin Civic Center Authority, all of our sponsors, all of our annual attendees, and the Herrin Chamber of Commerce Executive Board for their continued support.

For the past 29-years, we have welcomed hundreds of thousands of people to Herrin, Illinois and the Southern Illinois area from multiple states, and provided them with award-winning entertainment and family fun. We look forward to opening for our 30th year in 2021.

These are difficult times. We appreciate your understanding. Please stay safe, healthy, and let’s be helpful to one another.

May God Bless you all,
Cris Trapani
President, HerrinFesta Italiana
