2024 Festa to feature local favorites DiamondDog, Junge Dogs and Country Star Kendell Marvel
Continuing its long tradition of great live entertainment, HerrinFesta Italiana has announced a stellar line-up of free music for the 2024 edition of the annual celebration of the city’s rich Italian heritage.
For the third consecutive year, all of the performances at The Farmers State Bank Entertainment Tent will be free, with three nights of great acts.
Diamond Dog, a Southern Illinois-based, energetic band kicks thing off Friday, May 24 with danceable renditions of ‘70s and ‘80s hits. Regional favorite Jungle Dogs will open the show. Jungle Dogs, a Carbondale-based band has entertained with their reggae, funk and ska-influenced classical rock since the late 1980s.
Saturday, May 25 will feature Revis with 90’s Kidz opening. Revis is another Southern Illinois-based band, whose music might best be described as post-grunge. 90’s Kidz is a Marion-based group of seasoned musicians reliving their childhood by playing the music of the 1990s.
The final night of live entertainment features Dylan Wolfe opening for Southern Illinois native-turned Nashville singer-songwriter Kendell Marvel. Wolfe, originally from Clay City, Illinois, is a rising country artist who first made a name for himself by streaming his music online during the COVID-19 lockdown. Now, he is recognized as a solid songwriter and energetic performer. Marvell has written hits for country music stars including Gary Allen, George Strait, Jake Owen and Jamey Johnson. A frequent co-writer with Chris Stapleton, the pair won a Grammy for “Either Way” in 2018.
“With bands such as DiamondDog, Revis and Kendell Marvel, we’re setting the stage for an unforgettable Memorial Day Weekend at HerrinFesta,” says HerrinFesta President Cris Trapani. “It’s going to be a fantastic blend of music that truly has something for everyone.”
All performances at The Farmers State Bank Free Entertainment Tent begin at 6:30 p.m. The tent, located just north of the Herrin Civic Center, opens and beverage sales begin at noon, for all-day enjoyment.
HerrinFesta Italian officially begins Monday, May 20 with the Miss HerrinFesta Scholarship Pageant. The hugely-popular carnival opens at 4 p.m., Thursday, May 23 and runs through Monday, May 27.
