HerrinFesta Italiana Will Return To Celebrate 30-Years

HerrinFesta Italiana, a Southern Illinois non-profit and one of Illinois’ best
festivals, proudly announces its festival’s commencement for 2021. The HerrinFesta Italiana Committee, City of Herrin officials, Herrin Civic Center Authority, and committee chairs have been working diligently to arrange this iconic event for our town, region, and visitors.

HerrinFesta Italiana will celebrate its 30th Anniversary (May 24 – May 31) with a selection of its popular events while prioritizing attendees’ health and safety amidst the coronavirus pandemic. Designed to incorporate both virtual and personal experiences, HerrinFesta will present a series of entertaining activities that adhere to city and CDC guidelines put in place to mitigate the spread of Covid-19.

For 2021, HerrinFesta Italiana plans to use their traditionally-used concert venue area, known as The Piazza, to deliver an expanded Carnival Midway and Food Court. It will feature rides and games from North American Midway Entertainment, the World’s Largest Traveling Outdoor Amusement Park company. The Piazza will additionally house a new Beverage Garden for adults.

This year’s Festa will also include Annual Bocce Tournaments, The Grand Parade, HerrinFesta Road Races, plus more locally curated community and family-friendly experiences. HerrinFesta Italiana will continue to celebrate its annual honorees with the 2020-2021 Grand Parade Marshals, Lifetime Achievement Award, and Corporate Honoree at special events starting in
April through Memorial Day.

As we look forward to May, the planning committee is working with the City of Herrin, the Herrin Civic Center, other state officials, partners, and loyal sponsors to plan a variety of safe, enjoyable, and fun programming. The 2021 Festa will unite communities, help support economic recovery, and embrace the festival’s Italian heritage.

“HerrinFesta has a long history of supporting its community and region,” said Cris Trapani, President of HerrinFesta Italiana. “The impact of HerrinFesta is far-reaching, and we are eager to give individuals and families a place to go to enjoy themselves while remaining steadfast in
our commitment to ensure that residents and visitors feel safe, secure, and comfortable.”

“Nothing is more symbolic of Spring and the gateway to Summer in our region than HerrinFesta Italiana. After a challenging 2020, it is more important than ever to maintain a tradition that brings joy to the community and boosts the local economy. We look forward to celebrating our 30th year and can’t wait for what we will create together in the years to come,” said Trapani.

HerrinFesta Italiana, founded in 1991 and voted Best Festival in Illinois in 2014, is a tremendous crowd-pleaser. A celebration of the rich Italian heritage in Herrin, IL, welcomes thousands of visitors during Memorial Day Weekend. The Festa is run by volunteers. They work under the umbrella of The Herrin Chamber of Commerce and in tandem with the City of Herrin and The Herrin Civic Center.
