Independent recording artist John Spicer hails from the small town of Patoka, Illinois. John began playing guitar at age four and has made a living as a musician since the age of seventeen. As a professional singer/songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and producer John has done sessions and/or played with top industry veterans from Los Angeles to Nashville including Rock n Roll Hall of Fame's George Clinton, Mark Farner, the late great Merle Haggard and many more! By the age of nine John was playing banjo with some of the nation’s leading bluegrass players and considers his country roots a major influence on the modern country music he writes and produces today. John’s first single, Pretty Good At Loving You went to #1 on the Independent Country Music charts.

John Spicer & The Fightin’ Side consists of an all-star line up featuring the most sought after musicians in Southern Illinois. John Spicer on vocals and guitar, Dug Drenckpohl on guitar & vocals, Nick Szwedo on keys & vocals, Adam Burtch on bass & vocals, and Dave Weidenhoffer on drums and percussion. John Spicer & The Fightin’ Side are currently working on their first group studio project that looks to bring a mix of traditional and modern country paired with southern rock and blues. Established in late 2016, the band has opened for artists including Lee Brice, Easton Corbin, Blackhawk, Joe Diffie, and Gary Allan.

The band has played venues throughout the Midwest and East Coast and currently performs around the Southern Illinois and St. Louis areas with plans to expand regionally through 2018 and into 2019.
