Against the Tide is an American rock band founded in Southern Illinois in 2007. After recording several demo cd's, with the help of Scott Alexander and Mark Holman,
the band released their first 4 song EP, Saving Me, with Dave Dominguez in 2008. The line-up of the band has not changed much: Bassist Chuck Reed was replaced by Caleb Webb in 2009 due to Chuck's service to his country with the National Guard. Other than that the band has stayed solid.
History
Against the Tide was founded by the original members Amos Beasley, Mike Boner, Cliff McGuire, Chuck Reed and Corey Shockley. They have all been friends for a very long time prior to the formation of the band. Amos, Mike and Cliff were all members of the rock group Side View in 2001, that's how they knew each other. Chuck being a friend and Cory being Brother-In-Law to singer Mike, everything seemed to fall into place easily for them. The song Broken by Against the Tide was played on local radio stations, raising local awareness of the group and demand for concerts. The band eventually played live sharing the stage with several major acts, such as Black Stone Cherry , Kerry King from Slayer and Brad Cotter. The band soon went to L.A. to record an EP with Dave Dominguez. Dave became their manager and is currently shopping their EP (Saving Me) to all record labels.
Musical Style
Critics vary in terming Against the Tide as a rock band or a metal band, but most identify them as rock. They have been compared to a variety of bands from differing genres, such as Breaking Benjamin, Three Days Grace and Nickelback.
